Tampa – United Soccer League announced the full 2023 schedule for Division III league USL League One today. The previously announced format for 2023 will see each club play 32 matches, facing ten clubs three times and the remaining club twice.
The 2023 season begins on Friday March 17th, as North Carolina FC hosts defending champions Tormenta FC at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. A doubleheader follows on Saturday March 18th, where Charlotte Independence will host Richmond Kickers and expansion side One Knoxville SC will host fellow expansion side Lexington SC.
The season concludes on October 14th when all 12 clubs will be in action.
USL League One pointed out that 82% of matches are on weekend dates, Friday-Sunday.
Notable among the schedules is that Union Omaha will host their first two regular season matches at University of Nebraska Omaha’s Caniglia Field. Previously, they had hosted a few US Open Cup matches at the smaller soccer stadium. Otherwise, they maintain their home at Werner Park.
Lexington SC’s Stadium Situation
Still left unannounced is the home of Lexington SC, which the club promises to announce at a “later date.” The expansion side is set to host their first home match on April 8th against Tormenta FC.
Hailstorm FC’s Stadium Situation
Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will start their home schedule on May 27th. While TicketSmarter Stadium will not be ready by then, the club has settled on using an auxiliary field at the Future Legends Complex in the meantime. Previously, the 2022 expansion side bounced between various locations in the Fort Collins area, which most certainly affected their attendance rates. The club is hoping for a growth in attendance now that they at least have a static location at Future Legends.
