History
Tormenta FC is the first professional team of any sport in Statesboro since 1955. Founded in 2015 as a USL PDL (now USL-2) semi-pro club, Tormenta FC was the first founding member of the newly announced USL-1 professional league. By the end of the 2022 season, the club finally opened their long term home, Tormenta Stadium at Optim Sports Medicine Field and qualified for their first USL-1 playoffs, hosting and defeating Charlotte Independence in the first round.
