Two USL League One standouts were transferred to MLS sides today according to news releases from their respective clubs.
Richmond Kickers announced a transfer agreement with Sporting Kansas City for midfielder and USL League One Young Player of the Year Ethan Bryant. Bryant was loaned to the Kickers from San Antonio FC in 2021 and signed outright in 2022, where he experienced a breakout season. Sporting Kansas City stated that Bryant would be assigned to Sporting KC II, their MLS Next Pro side.
Forward Madison announced a transfer agreement with Chicago Fire FC for longtime veteran defender Eric Leonard. The 27 year old joined Forward Madison in 2019 when the club launched, and was the last remaining player from the inaugural squad. Leonard is a Chicago area native.
Media reports indicate that Leonard will also report to the MLS Next Pro side, Chicago Fire FC II.
