Ahead of a 2023 USL League One season that will see two club additions and one relegation, the league announced a minor change to the regular season format. Starting in 2023, the regular season will expand from 30 to 32 matches, and each club will face 10 clubs three times, and the remaining club twice.
The league indicated that the playoff structure will remain the same. In the current structure, the top six clubs are eligible for the playoffs, with the top two clubs earning a first round bye.
2023 will see twelve clubs competing, as Lexington SC joins as an expansion side and One Knoxville earned promotion from USL League Two after FC Tucson’s self-relegation to that league.
This format should add one additional home match for each club, a move sure to please season ticket holders. So far five clubs have already released pricing for the 2023 season, and the remaining should release over the next few weeks. League One Updater will monitor for any changes in pricing for the clubs with plans already released.
