Lexington SC filed a new proposal for their stadium and training complex. The new location is southeast of downtown, near the interchange of Interstate 75 and Athens Boonesboro Road.
Two other proposals fell apart after zoning issues and community pushback, one for downtown and another for north of downtown. The north Lexington proposal in particular received concern regarding a zoning conversion from agriculture to commercial.
The new location is already a commercial zone, and is adjacent to the club’s previously approved youth soccer fields.
The club, which has yet to announce any signings, is set to join USL League One in 2023 and will play at the University of Kentucky’s Bell Soccer Complex.
