As the 2022 regular season came to a close, League One Updater compiled reported attendance figures from the USL League one and individual teams. Forward Madison led the way for overall attendance for the 2022 season at 57,649. The Flamingos also led for average match attendance at 3,843.

Regular season champions Richmond Kickers placed a close second in both categories at 53,258 and 3,551 respectively. In addition, the Kickers had the highest single match attendance in week 29 at 6,000, a capacity sellout in their final regular season home match.

Union Omaha saw the third best overall attendance at 47,702 reported. The Owls did not report attendance for week 23, making their actual attendance likely a bit higher.

Smaller market teams Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC and South Georgia Tormenta FC struggled with attendance, averaging 813 and 1,041 respectively. The former is tentatively slated to move into TicketSmarter Stadium in 2023, with a capacity of 6,500. The latter moved into their new home, Tormenta Stadium at Optim Sports Medicine Field in October, and immediately saw attendance gains upward of 2,000.

Poor weather plagued FC Tucson’s attendance this year, with seven rain delays. After averaging 1,232 fans and finishing in 10th place, the club also announced yesterday a self-relegation to USL League Two while they change owners and attempt to establish a long term stadium solution.

Overall league attendance is up year over year, marking a full season mostly free of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
