Charlotte Independence announced initial roster moves on Wednesday. The club confirmed six players as returning in 2023:
- Defenders – Clay Dimick, Shalom Dutey and Héctor Acosta
- Midfielder – Omar Ciss
- Forwards – Tresor Mbuyu and Khori Bennett
Dimick was team captain in 2022, while Ciss was a USL League One All-League first team midfielder and young player of the year nominee. Mbuyu and Bennett co-led the club in goals with 11 each.
The club has not announced any departures at this time. The 2022 squad finished 6th in the table and secured the final playoff spot. They fell to eventual champion Tormenta FC in the first round.
