North Carolina FC has called WakeMed Soccer Park home since 2007. The soccer specific stadium is on state land leased to Wake County, the owner of the stadium. The Town of Cary operates the facility, known officially as Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. With an eye on upgrading to the MLS, the club explored building a soccer specific stadium in downtown Raleigh, but lost out on the franchise award. Since then, the club self-relegated to USL League One, and continues at its long term home.
