Match Notes – Richmond Kickers
Formation: 4-3-3
Absent from the roster: Akira Fitzgerald (personal leave), David Olsen, Ethan Vanacore-Decker (injury)
Emiliano Terzaghi captained the Richmond side. The striker captained all but one match he appeared in for the club in 2022.
The starting 11 was mostly the same as week 1, with the exception of Will Palmquist making his season debut in goal, as Akira Fitzgerald received expected time off for paternity leave.
Chandler O’Dwyer and Luke Pavone made their season debuts in the second half. O’Dwyer was in the week 1 roster but did not appear, while Pavone was not in the week 1 roster due to injury.
Jake Mecham made his club and professional debut off the bench, replacing Matt Bentley in the 71st minute to provide some defensive support.
Academy product and goalkeeper Eli Mumford was on the bench as a backup for Palmquist.
Richmond scored on a Nil Vinyals corner to Kharlton Belmar, who took the shot from about 15 yards out. This was Belmar’s first goal for the club after signing in the off-season from USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
Richmond’s defense limited Greenville to only two shots on target, despite Greenville’s 58.8% possession.
